TAKE CARE OF LEATHER
TAKE CARE OF LEATHER
Leather is a living and natural material. A well-treated leather can become even more beautiful and unique over time. To extend your product's life, we advise you to waterproof it with a product adapted to your bag's leather (see below). Prolonged exposure to a strong light source (sun or artificial light) may alter the color of the leather over time. That's we advise you to put your product in its dustbag when you are not using it.
For better results, we also recommend that you stuff your bag with paper so that it keeps its original shape. Close zips and avoid damp areas.
SUEDE LEATHER
Product example : La Double Pochette Olive
Suede is a delicate leather because its surface has been sanded to obtain a velvet-like touch.
Therefore, we recommend waterproofing your bag to protect it. Even waterproofed, avoid exposure to water and liquids. In case of rain, let it dry in the open air - without sources of artificial heat like radiators or hair dryers - putting silk paper inside to ensure the product keeps its original shape. Dark or vibrant suede colors may stain clear clothing if placed in close contact. On the other hand, dark clothes (such as raw jeans) may rub off on Suede. Moisture increases the color migration.
SMOOTH LEATHER
Product example : Le Petit Cartable Camel
This is a full-grain leather whose original surface has been preserved and enhanced.
It is therefore possible that your product has slight marks which should be considered as guarantees of authenticity. While smooth leather is particularly well known for its resistance and longevity, it is still a living matter that must be taken care of. Dark or very vivid colors can rub off when they are put in contact with clear clothing. On the other hand, some dark clothing (such as raw jeans or some new textiles) may be ungorged. Moisture reinforces the color migration. To soften the scratches and small marks of everyday life, we recommend that you moisturize it with a special nourishing cream leather that you can easily find in a shoemaker. Do not hesitate to bring your product to a specialist to ask for the cream most suitable for your bag.
VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHER
Vegetable tanning is a tanning process made exclusively from natural materials.
This rather firm leather is not treated with synthetic finishes, making it more delicate and prone to slight scratches. The shade of a vegetable tanned leather evolves over time. The patina slowly darkens due to the exposure to light. We advise against treating the leather with waterproof products which could stain the leather irremediably.
GRAINED LEATHER
The natural grain of our italian leather is obtained by a fulling process.
This grain being totally natural, it is irregular and can slightly vary on he surface of the skin. This makes each product unique. Grained leather has the advantage of being less sensitive to scratches. However, we recommend that you hydrate it occasionally, using a special leather nourishing cream. Don't hesitate to bring your product to a specialist to ask for the most suitable cream for your bag.
WATERPROOF NYLON
We use a nylon specially developed for leather goods and produced in Italy.
This nylon is both resistant and lightweight, which allows to give the structure to the models without weighing them down. It does not require any particular maintenance as it is beading.
